I went to Colonial Williamsburg in Virginia in 2023. The old time buildings and employees walking around in colonial clothing was really interesting. It makes you wonder how it would really be to walk down the street in colonial times.
The tour about the life of an enslaved person vs. a high income lady or gentleman was interesting. It was on this tour that I discovered enslaved people were not allowed to eat the house food. They had to hunt and grow their own food. The ethics of making a slave hunt for his dinner after he grew and prepared yours is interesting. A lady on the tour asked if the Irish people were slaves. Our white lady tour guide was polite but said - in no uncertain terms - "No they were not".
